Kevin Kennemer

Kevin, owner of The People Group, is focused on creating award-winning best places to work.

As an advocate for great workplaces, he has extensive experience creating best-in-class human resource teams, executive coaching, culture, compensation, benefits, corporate acquisitions and employee relations.

Kevin was formerly chief human resource officer for SemGroup, an international energy company that rose from obscurity to #5 on Forbes’ list of largest privately held companies with $14.2 billion in annual revenues. Prior to SemGroup, he was director of human resources for Thrifty Car Rental.

He served on the boards of the Oklahoma Business Ethics Consortium and Tulsa Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), and a judge for the annual America’s Worst Bosses List.

Routinely speaking on company culture and business ethics, Kevin writes for the Chief People Officer blog, listed as a Top 40 Employee Engagement Blog. He also writes for the Best Companies Group blog.

In his college years, Kevin was a studio drummer and later played for church worship bands. He also enjoys and plays tennis four times each week.

Kevin and his wife of 36 years, Anita, have three daughters and four grandchildren. All live in the Tulsa area.

Kevin holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Oral Roberts University and a master’s degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.
